In recent years, Switzerland has reported an alarming increase in phishing attacks. The Swiss Federal Cybersecurity Office (BACS) published the following figures:
- 2023: A total of 554,000 phishing reports were submitted, from which 10,007 phishing websites were identified.
- 2024: The number of reports increased to 975,309, with 20,872 phishing websites detected — an increase of 108% compared to the previous year.
To raise awareness, security‑awareness expert Oliver Hirschi, together with a team from the Department of Computer Science at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), has developed a phishing test:
